Tidal Walls scheme at Shoreham
The Environment Agency is working with Adur District Council to improve the flood defences on the east and west banks of the River Adur in Shoreham. The town is vulnerable to tidal flooding from the River Adur and the risk of flooding will increase over time as climate change leads to sea level rise. In some places the existing defences need replacing.
The Environnment Agency are developing a flood scheme to improve the defences in this area, this is called the Shoreham Adur tidal walls scheme. The improved flood defences will provide better protection from tidal flooding to properties and businesses on both the east and west banks of the estuary.
