Lock Farm (ARPHA)

The Lock Farm Penstock controls the western arm of the river Adur. The lock structure just below the penstock is currently in a state of disrepair and inoperable as a navigational structure.  The structures currently act as a barrier to the migration of migratory and coarse fish and elvers.  They are also causing an impoundment, resulting in siltation, lack of flow variability and a lack of in channel and marginal vegetation.

There is potential here to modify the channel, perhaps using rock placement to create a series of weirs, and to undertake channel improvement and re-grading works. These options have yet to be costed up and funded.
