Buxted Park Weir (MORPH)
Buxted Park weir was a thin plate weir constructed from timber logs, which impounded the river flow and completely preventing sea trout and coarse fish from migrating upstream of this point.
The preffered option was to remove the structure and regrade the river bed to reduce impoundment and improve fish passage. There was also potential to reprofile the banks and create buffer strips to improve marginal habitats, to deliver biodiversity benefits.
