Sussex Coastal Habitats Inshore Pilot project (SCHIP)

SCHIP was a collaborative initiative between the Sussex Wildlife Trust and the Sussex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority to help improve the health of our marine environment off Sussex.  The project officer worked with decision-makers, local experts and key stakeholders to develop a better and shared understanding of the habitats, species and pressures on the coastline from Selsey in the west to Beachy Head in the east and out to 1nm mile.

A key output has be the creation of a habitat map for the Adur and Ouse coastal water body, far more accurate and detailed than previous evidence. Knowing the type and location of habitats is vital in directing marine management to where it is most needed.
