Twineham Restoration

A series of berms were constructed through the upstream section of the river Adur at Twineham to provide multiple benefits to the river and recreational users. Built on alternate sides of the channel, the berms have created sinuosity, flow diversity and a slight increase in the water level, providing additional stability to the banks.  In addition, five backwater refuge habitats were created by fixing erosion control matting onto the newly excavated areas and re-seeding them with a restoration mix.
